Devlog #3 Play in Browser

Phew! That was an exhausting week and a half.  Welcome back to another devlog update for Exterminators. Starting to really like the sound of that name.  Things have been a bit hectic around here. Moving into the warmer months we are getting caught up on yard work, maintaining the garden , and general house repairs. In the mean time we have been making progress on our game here. Which I should probably start talking about soon so let's go ahead and jump right in.

First off, as you may have noticed if you've already checked out the Exterminators page, the game is now playable in the browser. To get our application to run we had to rework our sound engine and implement a few extra tricks to get everything just right. We are using emscripten to handle the process for now. It gets the job done and handles things nicely. It was a learning process but it was worth it in the end. I'm very pleased with the results and now that it is up and running I can focus my attention on some other features in the game.

My brother was able to rework the music and sound rather quickly and has been working on the upgrade system. Which will include several interesting new abilities for the two Exterminators. I don't want to spoil it too much but let's just say Fire Bullets are in your near future. The system isn't fully ready to show off just yet but we are both very excited to show everyone once it is ready. Upgrading your character as you battle hordes of bugs and boss monsters has been the main focus of this game from the beginning. So we want to make sure once we show off  the upgrades it will reflect what we hope the system will become. You'll be able to see that very soon.

As for me?  Well I'll be working on bugs. Lots and LOTS of bugs. More specifically their behavior patterns, animation, and spawning.
